Hello
I created Gender Responsive Insight after years of listening to women whose lives were shaped by systems or organisations that didn’t fully see or understand them. Previously as an Associate Professor in Criminology and Founding Director of Linc‑Eval (an evaluation unit), my work has taken me into refuges, prisons, higher education institutions, community settings, and multi‑agency partnerships across the UK and Finland. The same pattern appeared everywhere: women were navigating trauma, poverty, violence, and disadvantage within services that weren’t designed with their realities in mind.
That’s what drives me. I’m a feminist researcher, evaluator, and consultant who believes that when we redesign systems around women’s lived experiences, we create safer, more effective, more humane responses for everyone.
For nearly a decade, I chaired Nottingham’s Response to Complexity (R2C) whole systems partnership to improve outcomes for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage. I have contributed to regional strategies focused on reducing women’s proximity to the criminal justice system. My work continues to challenge assumptions about women’s lives, including recent research on the emotional labour women carry in supporting partners and loved ones away from offending.
Gender Responsive Insight brings all of this together, evidence, practice, and lived experience to help organisations build trauma‑informed, gender‑responsive systems that genuinely work for women and girls.
And when I’m not doing that, you’ll find me at Molineux, where I chair the Wolves Equality Advisory Group and member of the Fan Advisory Board. Because gender‑responsive practice belongs everywhere women show up.
